GuildWars business model boils down to this
X new sales per Y time span (of any number of existing games released).

The other thing that may give the perception is the fact each game is different. Some people don't like change. They knew that alliance battles missing in Nightfall will drive some people Away. People lose interest, they move to other games.

The fact is, GW has a basic but dynamic concept that if done correctly, will continue to keep some, lose some, but still appeal to new players as something "new". Each game has very different elements and I don't see that changing.

Gaile has already mentioned about future plans of Direct X 10 so they fully plan on being current with graphic so I don't see the graphics of becoming "dated" either.

GW was designed as a hybrid gaem but then ANet changed their standing point and tried to cater more towards pvponlys (no need to touch pve anymore, pvpchars > pvechars) and pveonlys (no need to touch pvp to complete the game)..
What did that do? The game is seperated except for the favorthing. Great? Well, many will agree, but they sacrificed a large number of hybrid players by doing this. Unfortunatly I'm one of them.
It killed most of the fun for me, my guild and most of my friendslist. It's sad to belong to the group of customers that is no longer supported. If no wonder happens with the next chapter, I'm out, too. Why shall I buy a product that is not geared towards my interests?

Out of the Elitefansiteinterview:
"Old players are leaving the game, but new players flock in".
Yep, there were always new players entering the game, but were there always so many leaving it? Face it, one of the reasons why still so many new players buy the game, are the good reviews. If the old people leave and the next chapter gets mediocre reviews, well...expect many more "doomsayer posts". And don't forget this is the year of the MMOs, never were more releases announced than for this year, and some carry the potential to recruit some of their players out of the gw playerbase. An unhappy customer, shelving a product and buying a new one, rarely returns.

Population not shrinking, just a bit more spread?
I don't believe it, even if spread thinner, I do not expect to be the ONLY European in a missionoutpost. At least not as regularly as of late even if playing at crazy times.

But all in all just time will tell us, as ANet keeps their data secret (and no, the total number of copies sold does not say how many of them are still active)

Yep as someone said.. I've been playing WoW and the new expansion so I haven't been playing Guild Wars and wont very much anymore unless I can't play WoW or if they release information on the new chapter soon.. otherwise I just lose interest as the days pass by... that said Guild Wars is a great game and I still feel that it's money well spent.

That is the most contradictory thing you people are saying, has anyone got 8 characters with protector titles in here? I do, but I really want to know how many others are speaking from experience.
Amazing..thats all I can say...

Since when do people have to have dozens of protecter titles to classify PvE as repetitive? People are not asking for repetitive tasks per say..although the tasks they are asking or may repetitive, it is really new and LONG LASTING content people want. So go get your upteenth protecter title and if you think that protecter titles are fun to get go get some more.

It boils down to simple question why should we be playing guildwars and not some other game titles?

Given Guildwars current state i am wondering how many actually plan on getting the next chapter.(Looking at previous hype about nightfall)its all hype at the end of the day

You can be concerned and well, be that way. Yet we all know the game will not last forever, but it is going to last a very very long time to come, with new additions every so often and blizzard "apparently" declaring their new titles, WoW is going to see a decrease.
Quote "I know personally of approximately 5-10 people who are R10+ in the HA environment who just gave up from not being interested anymore, and have moved on to WoW. On the other hand, I know about 4 people in person and are picking up GW cause they think WoW got retarded."

Given the ratio you gave previously do you still think WoW is going to see a decrease?

For the "old-school" players I have 2 suggestions:
1. Grow up, it got boring because your playing every day for 2 years and your friends stopped playing.
2. Actually try to do the same mission, get protector titles, get cartographer titles, see the actual environment of the game. You know that castle in north kryta? Or the statue to grenth in the dead middle of the droks run? I bet you don't.
1.Let me know when you grow up and stop playing.Easy for you to say when your still here laugh
2.Yes actual environment of the game is top rated that one of the reasons many of us opt for guildwars and hope it will improve on other aspect as well (Look at WoW the graphic S** yet ppl are still paying for it ever wonder why?)

These are the interesting thing that will make the game interesting. How many of us actually will go out to actual environment of the game without a purpose?

Fed Ex quest point A to point B ?

As time past newer title with better graphic going to be wonking out one after another do you think guildwars top rated graphic will still be able to sell?

Look at WoW they actually can survive on gameplay content alone why? cause it fun to play nothing more.

Anyway if anyone haven't revisit the crystal desert in tyria i highly recommend it as dev have done a good job there

Some how the math don't quite add up thou laugh

Sorry don't mean to insult or anything like that just scratching my head what are you trying to tell us laugh
And I also said its not dieing because there will always be an influx of new players who havent done everything. I was making the point thats its the older players who will get bored and move on, until they add new content.

GWs re-playability is great until you've played every profession you want to, by which time it drags.

Your only really left with attaining titles which mostly require grinding, and even that looses its apeal after a while. But that doesnt mean the game is dieing as ive said.

Some people will move on, while new players move in to replace them. Then the others come back once new content is added. Its a repeating cycle.

I'll be back once the new chaptor is out, but in the mean time Im wanting to experience something new in Azeroth and get a change of scene after nearly 2 years.

Its like taking a holiday somewhere else, after going to scotland every summer for the last 10 years. You want something new, but that doesnt mean you hate Scotland.

You know fine well what I was getting at. Guildwars is just a game we all play to get away from life and chill out. Its expected that after 2 years people will want to try something different or new to relax if that game is starting to get stail and repetative.

Although in saying that, I wasnt too far from the truth calling it a holiday. Some people do spend 24/7 on MMOs, in which case it would just be healthy for them to get a change of scene away from the computer.
